The drill, conducted under real-life scenario conditions, successfully tested passenger communication and security coordination.
At Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, the mandatory annual security drill held under the “Probable Course of Action Plan” was successfully conducted on 23 October 2025.
The exercise took place at Gate 503 in the international terminal’s sterile area, where a suspicious package was positioned as part of the scenario. In response to the event scenario, security teams quickly secured the area and intervened in a controlled manner.
Throughout the drill, passengers were informed via announcements made in the terminal building, and it was communicated that operations were continuing safely. The drill, which lasted about half an hour, was completed smoothly at 15:00.
Officials from Sabiha Gökçen Airport emphasised that such regularly conducted drills enhance the coordination capability of emergency management and security teams, highlighting that passenger safety always remains the top priority.
