Air Europa and Airbus finalised the memorandum of understanding for 40 A350-900 aircraft, which had been signed at the Dubai Airshow 2025, at the Fitur Fair held in Madrid.
Air Europa and Airbus have finalised the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for 40 A350-900 aircraft that was signed at the Dubai Airshow 2025. The parties came together during the Fitur Fair in Madrid to put the final touches on the agreement.
At the meeting held on 22 January 2026, Air Europa President Juan José Hidalgo and Airbus Head of Sales for Western Europe Ville Arhippainen met on the second day of the trade event in Spain to complete the final details of the agreement. The parties celebrated this important milestone with a ceremony held at the Air Europa stand.
With the addition of the new A350-900 aircraft to the fleet, Air Europa is expected to accelerate the phase-out of its older widebody aircraft and further strengthen its position on transatlantic routes where demand remains strong. In particular, the airline’s competitiveness in the Latin American market is expected to increase.
Air Europa President Juan José Hidalgo had previously described the A350-900 as a “game changer for key destinations in Latin America”, emphasising that the aircraft offers operational performance and economic advantages that allow the airline to expand its network without compromise.
Speaking during the Dubai Airshow 2025, Airbus Executive Vice President of Sales for Commercial Aircraft Benoît de Saint-Exupéry had used the following remarks:
“We are proud to welcome Air Europa to the Airbus A350 family. This order strongly confirms the A350 as the benchmark widebody platform in terms of efficiency and passenger comfort on long-haul operations.”
Air Europa currently operates a long-haul fleet largely composed of Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The airline runs a Latin America-focused network, one of the most competitive long-haul markets in Europe.
