It was discovered that some frequent flyers could view other customers’ account details and even make changes to their reservations through the app. The issue was traced back to a vulnerability in the Qantas application.
It was found that some frequent flyers could access travel information of other customers, including names, upcoming flight details, points balances, and statuses. Additionally, it was reported that some customers could make changes to reservations of other passengers.
Qantas has launched an investigation into the breach and stated that there is no evidence of a cybersecurity incident. A company representative mentioned that the issue appeared to be a technical glitch, possibly related to recent system changes. They assured that the problem has been resolved.
A spokesperson for Qantas reminded customers that other frequent flyers would not be able to transfer or use Qantas Points of affected customers. Following the incident, the company sincerely apologized to the impacted customers.
