An unusual incident occurred on 3 August during SAS-Scandinavian Airlines flight SK4671, operated by an Airbus A320-200 registered OY-KAU, en route from Oslo to Alicante. While cruising at FL390 and approximately 30 nautical miles southwest of Brussels, one of the pilots in the cockpit began to feel unwell.
As the situation became more serious, the first officer took over control of the aircraft, which was then diverted to Brussels Airport as a precaution. Around 25 minutes later, the Airbus A320 landed safely on runway 25R.
Flight Continued with Replacement Crew
While airline officials did not provide detailed information about the pilot’s condition, they confirmed that the illness posed a potential risk to flight safety. A new flight crew was dispatched to Brussels to continue the journey.
Passengers reached Alicante aboard the same aircraft following an approximate delay of 5.5 hours.
