Pegasus Airlines has decided to resume its Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen–Suleimaniyah flights, which were suspended in April 2023. In line with its goal of strengthening its presence in the Iraqi market, the airline will operate its first flight on Friday, 26 December.
According to a statement from Pegasus, reciprocal flights will be operated between Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport and Suleimaniyah with three weekly frequencies.
Rising Demand Accelerated the Decision
Company officials stated that the reopening of the Suleimaniyah route was evaluated within the scope of increasing travel demand to the region, commercial and cultural mobility, and Pegasus’s strategy to expand its flight network.
With this step, Pegasus Airlines aims to increase the number of destinations it serves in Iraq, while offering passengers more connections and alternative travel options.
Re-Establishing a Strong Position in the Iraqi Market
Continuing to expand its domestic and international flight network with new destinations, Pegasus aims to take on an active role in the Iraqi market once again with the resumption of Suleimaniyah flights. The flights are expected to generate significant demand, particularly for business and family visits.
