Pegasus Airlines operated its first flight to Uralsk, its 7th destination in Kazakhstan. The new route officially entered service with a ceremony held at Sabiha Gökçen Airport.
Pegasus Airlines has added another destination to its growth strategy in Central Asia. The company officially launched scheduled flights today from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport to the Kazakh city of Uralsk. The farewell ceremony organized at the airport for the new route also attracted attention in the aviation sector.
The Uralsk route, Pegasus’ 7th destination in Kazakhstan, also marks the first direct connection between Sabiha Gökçen Airport and the city.
Pegasus Operates First Flight to Uralsk
A special ceremony was held at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport for the inaugural flight of the new route. Pegasus Airlines and Sabiha Gökçen Airport management attended the ceremony, where commemorative photographs were taken.
With Pegasus’ new route, the air connection between Türkiye and Kazakhstan is expected to become even stronger.
Operations to Be Conducted with 2 Weekly Frequencies
Pegasus Airlines will operate 2 round-trip flights per week between Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen and Uralsk. The new route is expected to create significant passenger potential, particularly for business, tourism, and family visits.
The company’s recent capacity increase targeting the Central Asian market is also among the developments drawing attention.
Expanding Its Network in Kazakhstan
With the Uralsk route, Pegasus increased the number of destinations in Kazakhstan to 7. The airline already operates scheduled flights to Astana, Almaty, Shymkent, Aktobe, Aktau, and Atyrau.
With the new connection, Pegasus’ operational network in the region is expanding further, while Istanbul’s role in Central Asian transit traffic is also expected to strengthen.
A New International Connection for Sabiha Gökçen
The Uralsk route carries strategic importance not only for Pegasus but also for Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport. The airport has now been directly connected to the Kazakh city of Uralsk for the first time.
The new route will contribute both to Türkiye-Kazakhstan air traffic and to Pegasus’ regional growth targets.
