Following a request from Montenegro’s national carrier, Air Montenegro, Pegasus Airlines’ flights from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport to Podgorica have been suspended. This development amid competition in the aviation sector has drawn attention.
Air Montenegro claimed that Pegasus’ flights from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport to Podgorica were illegal and lodged a complaint with Montenegro authorities. With a favorable outcome to this complaint, Pegasus’ flights on this route were suspended as of April 15.
However, Pegasus’ flights from Ankara and Izmir to Podgorica are still operational. Nevertheless, flights from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport will now be routed via Ankara and Izmir.
Pegasus used to operate six flights per week between Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen and Podgorica, with one daily flight. With this decision, Air Montenegro no longer has flights to Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen, potentially impacting the industry’s dynamics.
