Kazakhstan’s historic Yerementau region, noted for its significant archaeological sites listed on the UNESCO World Heritage list, is the focus of a new sponsorship agreement aimed at deepening excavation work. This important collaboration was established between Kazakhstan and the L.N.G. Eurasian National University. The signing ceremony took place at the Rixos President Hotel in the capital, Astana.

Representing the L.N.G. Eurasian National University at the signing ceremony were Professor Mutalieva Lyalya, the project manager, and professors from the Archaeology and Ethnography departments. Representing Pegas Touristik Kazakhstan were the company’s General Manager Anıl Aksema and his team. Speeches delivered during the event emphasized the historical significance of the excavation and the importance of preserving cultural heritage.
Anıl Aksema: “We Aim to Leave Sustainable Legacies for Future Generations”
Anıl Aksema, General Manager of Pegas Touristik Kazakhstan, provided insights into the importance of the excavation and the sponsorship:
“For 30 years, Pegas Touristik has been engaged in tourism activities in Turkey and around the world. Our principle has always been to contribute to the tourism of the countries we operate in, to preserve and promote their cultural heritage, and most importantly, to leave sustainable legacies for future generations. By deepening the archaeological work in Kazakhstan’s Yerementau region, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage list, we aim to make Yerementau a new attraction in world tourism and leave a legacy for future generations. We have decided to collaborate with the L.N.G. Eurasian National University of Kazakhstan as part of our social responsibility.”
Anıl Aksema thanked Mr. Tansel Tercan and Professor Mutalieva Lyalya for leading this project and expressed his belief that this collaboration will further strengthen the ties between Kazakhstan and Turkey.
Collaboration in Tourism Education and Student Support Program
Anıl Aksema announced that the collaboration will extend beyond archaeological excavations to include significant steps in tourism education:
“A student support program will be established between the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality of the L.N.G. Eurasian National University and Pegas Touristik Kazakhstan. We have decided to offer internship and post-graduation employment opportunities in our Astana and Almaty offices in the Marketing, Reservation, Operations, and Avia departments to graduates and successful students. We believe that the future of tourism can only be sustainable with an educated and conscious new generation.”
Wishing this collaboration to be beneficial for the tourism world and future generations, Aksema emphasized that their projects would greatly contribute to the sector.
Yerementau: A New Tourism Attraction
The archaeological work in Kazakhstan’s Yerementau region aims to establish the area as a new attraction in global tourism. By uncovering historical and cultural riches, Yerementau is expected to gain a significant place in international tourism.
