Airbus has made a significant forecast about the future of air travel. In its annual report released in the first half of 2024, the company announced that global demand for aircraft is expected to double over the next 20 years. Airbus plans to deliver a total of 42,430 new aircraft, with substantial growth anticipated particularly in the Asian and Middle Eastern markets.
The company predicts that the global aircraft fleet will reach 48,230 planes, which is 4% higher than previous estimates. Airbus is awaiting approval for its long-range, single-aisle A321XLR aircraft, while Boeing continues to develop a longer-range version of its 737 MAX.

The report highlights that the rising economies of Asia, particularly India and China, are the main drivers of increased aircraft demand due to the growth in air traffic. China’s domestic traffic is expected to surpass that of the US, becoming the world’s largest domestic market. Additionally, demand for wide-body aircraft is expected to rise rapidly in South America and North America.
