SunExpress Aircraft Makes Emergency Landing in Antalya Due to Technical Failure

A SunExpress aircraft operating flight XQ 942 from Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport to Ercan Airport in Cyprus was diverted to Antalya due to a technical malfunction during the approach phase.

The aircraft, which took off from Izmir at 05:25, was announced by the pilot to be landing at Antalya Airport, the nearest point with technical support, as Ercan Airport lacked a technical team. The announcement caused panic among passengers, and it was reported that one passenger fainted.

After landing safely at Antalya Airport, the aircraft was towed to a designated area for technical inspections. Passengers were evacuated safely, and SunExpress announced that a replacement aircraft would be provided. However, during this process, passengers had to wait at the airport for about two hours.

Following the delay, the passengers departed from Antalya to Cyprus at 08:40 on a different aircraft provided by SunExpress. The flight, originally scheduled to arrive in Ercan at 06:50, was completed with a delay of approximately two and a half hours due to the incident.
