Our National Combat Aircraft KAAN is Set to Compete for the Top Spot in the World Rankings

The fighter jets owned by countries stand out with their different features. One of the milestones in aviation history occurred in 1947 when the research aircraft Bell X-1 approached a speed of 1,000 miles per hour in supersonic flight, breaking existing speed records. This event marked the beginning of regular supersonic flight in military aviation and opened the doors to a new era of speed.

With technological advancements, various models of supersonic jets have been developed. This progression, ranging from breaking the sound barrier to routinely flying at twice the speed of sound, represents a significant milestone in aviation history and underscores the continuous pursuit of advancement and excellence in aerospace engineering.

In the world rankings, the Russian brand SUKHOI SU-57 jet stands out as the fastest fighter jet in the world. The second spot is taken by the USA’s F-22 RAPTOR, while France’s DASSAULT MIRAGE 2000 ranks third.

Our national combat aircraft KAAN ranks 6th, reaching a speed of 2,470 km/h. As it is still in the development stage, KAAN was not included in the list; however, if it were added, according to the speed data announced by TUSAŞ, it would rank 5th. This indicates that KAAN is a strong candidate to rise in the world rankings.
