One of the dynamic private airlines in Turkish civil aviation, Freebird Airlines, began scheduled flights between Europe and Turkey as of 2022. Adding Bodrum to its range of destinations offered to European tourists, the airline will fly twice a week from Cologne/Bonn Airport to Bodrum, one of the paradise corners of the Aegean, during the summer season.
First Flight on May 18
Freebird Airlines carried out its first flight to Bodrum of the season on May 18. At the ceremony held at Cologne-Bonn Airport, Freebird Airlines Commercial Director Derya Kaya Bozay stated, “Bodrum is a very attractive destination that appeals to different audiences with its ancient sites, mild Mediterranean climate, turquoise sea, bays, gastronomy, and nightlife.” She noted that the increasing popularity of Bodrum in Europe and efforts to make travel to Turkey easier were influential in starting these scheduled flights. Bozay said, “We intend to increase our direct Bodrum flights, starting with Cologne, by providing connections from other European cities.”

Cologne-Bonn Airport CEO Thilo Schmid stated that Freebird’s new flights to Bodrum were a significant contribution for them. Schmid emphasized, “In addition to its sea-sand-sun tourism, Bodrum has unique tourist value with the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and Bodrum Castle.” During the peak season, Freebird Airlines will operate flights between Cologne/Bonn and Bodrum every Wednesday and Saturday.
