Following the end of its operations in India, Çelebi Aviation has restructured its Asia-Pacific strategy and significantly increased its market share and operational capacity in the region by launching ground handling operations at Indonesia’s two major airports, Bali and Jakarta.
After the political tensions between Pakistan and India in May last year, as part of the decisions taken by the Indian administration against Turkish companies, Çelebi Aviation’s licence in the country was revoked and the company’s airport operations in nine different cities, primarily New Delhi, were terminated. Following this development, Çelebi Aviation decided to redirect its resources in Asia towards the Indonesian market.
Simultaneous Operations at Indonesia’s Two Busiest Airports
Operating globally in the field of ground handling services, Çelebi Aviation has officially commenced operations at Bali I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) and Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK), Indonesia’s two busiest hubs in terms of passenger and flight traffic.
With the Bali and Jakarta operations launched as of the new year, Çelebi has further strengthened its global network in Southeast Asia, through which it serves more than 400 airline customers across Asia, Africa and Europe.
High Passenger and Flight Volumes
According to official data, during the January–October 2025 period:
- I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali served more than 20 million passengers,
- Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta served approximately 46 million passengers.
Within the scope of the planned operational capacity, Çelebi Aviation aims to serve:
- 1,800 flights and 650,000 passengers annually in Bali,
- 4,500 flights and 1.6 million passengers annually in Jakarta.
More Than 350 Employees, Fully Electric Equipment Fleet
As part of the operations, more than 150 Çelebi Aviation employees are working in Bali and more than 200 in Jakarta. The company also stands out as the first GHA (Ground Handling Agent) in Indonesia to use a fully electric equipment fleet for ground handling services. With this practice, it aims to directly contribute to reducing carbon emissions at airports and to the achievement of “green airport” targets.

Commenting on the matter, Çelebi Aviation Southeast Asia President Murali Ramachandran made the following assessment:
“Establishing simultaneous operations at two critical centres such as Bali and Jakarta, which have the highest passenger and flight volumes in Indonesia, requires not only a strong operational infrastructure but also deep regional foresight and flawless coordination capability.”
Çelebi Aviation Indonesia General Manager Andy Dias said:
“The operations we have launched in Bali and Jakarta are a strong indication of our long-term commitment to this market, in addition to the 25 airports across Indonesia where we already provide services.”
