A Critical Move in Europe! Solinair Commissions Its New Hangar
Solinair, a subsidiary of MNG Airlines, is expanding its MRO capacity in Europe with a newly opened 8,000-square-meter hangar at Ljubljana Airport. The investment aims to provide a solution to the growing maintenance demand.
As part of its growth strategy in Europe, Solinair, a subsidiary of MNG Airlines, has commissioned its new hangar investment in Slovenia. The facility, located at Ljubljana Airport, was inaugurated with the participation of Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar. With this investment, the company aims to increase its capacity in maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) and strengthen its position in the European market.
A Strategic Response to Growing Maintenance Demand in Europe
In recent years, fleet expansion, the rising average age of aircraft, and the limited existing maintenance infrastructure in the European aviation sector have increased demand for MRO services. Solinair’s new hangar investment is expected to directly contribute to meeting the region’s capacity needs.
An Integrated Maintenance Facility Spanning 8,000 Square Meters
The facility at Ljubljana Airport has a total enclosed area of 8,000 square meters. Of this, 6,000 square meters is designated as hangar space, and the facility stands out with the capacity to service up to six aircraft simultaneously. The new hangar is designed to provide both line maintenance and base maintenance services in an integrated manner.
A Critical Milestone in the European Strategy
Gökay Özdemir, Member of the Board of Solinair and Vice Chairman of the Board of MNG Airlines, stated that the investment represents a significant milestone in terms of the company’s growth objectives. Özdemir emphasized the increasing need for high-quality and reliable maintenance capacity, noting that Slovenia offers a suitable environment for this investment with its strong technical infrastructure and qualified workforce.
Contribution to the Regional Ecosystem and Collaborations
The new hangar is expected not only to increase operational capacity but also to contribute to the regional aviation ecosystem. The investment is anticipated to reduce external dependency in technical processes and support the development of a skilled workforce.
