Lufthansa Pilot Strike to Have Limited Impact in Stuttgart, Other Baden-Württemberg Airports Safe

The 48-hour strike by Lufthansa pilots is affecting flights connected to Frankfurt and Munich at Stuttgart Airport. No direct impact from the strike is expected at Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden and Friedrichshafen airports.

Lufthansa Pilot Strike Has Limited Impact in Stuttgart

The 48-hour strike announced by Lufthansa pilots for Thursday and Friday is expected to have a limited impact at Stuttgart Airport. According to a spokesperson for Stuttgart Airport, cancellations concern only Lufthansa’s feeder flights connected to Frankfurt and Munich.

Some Flights Cancelled in Stuttgart

Following the pilots’ strike call, connecting flights to Frankfurt and Munich were affected at Stuttgart Airport. Four arrivals and four departures scheduled for Thursday were cancelled. No detailed information for Friday has yet been shared.

No Impact Expected at Other Airports

Since there are no Lufthansa connections at Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden and Friedrichshafen airports, no direct impact from the strike is anticipated. Authorities stated that they expect normal flight operations to continue at these airports.

Additional Flight Options and Passenger Advisory

Lufthansa announced that Discover Airlines and Lufthansa City Airlines, which are not affected by the strike, may operate additional flights where possible. The management of Stuttgart Airport advises passengers to regularly check their flight status on the airline’s website and to contact their airline directly.

Strike Call and Reason for the Dispute

The pilot union Vereinigung Cockpit has called more than 5,000 pilots working at Lufthansa, Lufthansa Cargo, and Lufthansa Cityline to a 48-hour strike.

The reasons for the strike call include demands for higher pay at Cityline, and disagreements over increased company pension provisions at the main company and the cargo division. Lufthansa management described the strike call as “very harsh and disproportionate.”
