The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that Ka-52 helicopters, nicknamed “Alligator,” carried out airstrikes against the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Kursk region. The statement mentioned that ground aviation crews in the Ka-52 helicopters targeted Ukrainian forces’ personnel, armored vehicles, and military equipment with air weapons.

The attacks were conducted using unguided aviation missiles and Vikhr guided aviation missiles against reconnaissance targets.
Clashes and Evacuations
Clashes that began on August 6 when Ukrainian forces entered Russian territory have been ongoing for seven days. The situation in the region has been elevated to a “federal emergency” level, and an anti-terrorism state has been declared. Over 76,000 people have been evacuated, and the Russian Ministry of Health reported that 69 people were injured in the attacks.
