Following the assassination of Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, airlines have suspended some flights in the region due to expected retaliation by Iran against Israel. Several countries’ airlines have announced the cancellation of flights to Israel and Lebanon for security reasons in light of these developments in the Middle East. Some airlines that had previously suspended their flights have extended the suspension period.
Extension of Suspension by Germany and France
Germany’s Lufthansa and France’s Air France have extended the suspension of their flights to the Middle East. Lufthansa announced that no flights will take place until August 21, while Air France and its subsidiary Transavia France stated that they would not operate flights to Beirut until August 14.
