A hearing was held at the Competition Board regarding the investigation into THY Opet Aviation Fuels Inc. The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Chairman of the Competition Board, Ahmet Algan.
Algan reminded attendees that the investigation was initiated to determine whether THY Opet Aviation Fuels Inc. violated the relevant article of the Law on the Protection of Competition.
A representative of the investigation team stated that the investigation was opened following the annulment of a previous Board decision by the Ankara 6th Administrative Court. The investigation is based on allegations that THY Opet breached its commitments related to the acquisition of the right to operate fuel storage, sales, and supply units at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport and increased the fees for jet fuel storage and supply services to excessive levels, thereby violating the law.
The representative noted that, after thorough examination, it was concluded that THY Opet did not breach its commitments or violate the law through excessive pricing, and therefore, there was no need to impose an administrative fine.
After the statements, the views of the parties were heard. The complainant’s representative argued that the company held a dominant position in the market and breached its commitments. THY Opet’s General Manager, Serdar Güler, asserted that the company prioritizes full compliance with laws in all its activities.
The Board will announce its final decision on the investigation within 15 days, and the decision will be published on the institution’s website.
