Increase in Schengen Visa Fees: New Prices Now in Effect

The increase in Schengen visa application fees has come into effect as of today. This hike, implemented following a proposal by the European Commission in February, has led to significant rises in visa costs.

New Fees

  • Visa Fee for Adults: Increased from 80 euros to 90 euros (approximately 3,140 Turkish lira).
  • Visa Fee for Children Aged 6-12: Increased from 40 euros to 45 euros.
  • Citizens of Countries Not Cooperating on Repatriation: Will pay a visa fee of either 135 or 180 euros.
  • Schengen Visa Extension Fee: Remains fixed at 30 euros.

Fee Increase

This increase in Schengen visa fees represents a 12% rise. Visa fees were previously raised from 60 euros to 80 euros in 2020. The new prices, effective from today, will impact applicants.

Reason for the Increase

The European Commission proposed the fee increase in February to cover the rising costs associated with processing and evaluating visa applications by EU countries.
