ASELSAN has shared its 2023 Activity Report with the public via its official website. According to the report, the planned deliveries of communication equipment for the HÜRKUŞ-II Project have been completed. In addition to the deliveries scheduled for 2023, the deliveries planned for the first quarter of 2024 were brought forward, and all communication equipment was delivered.
TUSAŞ Deputy General Manager Prof. Dr. Fahrettin Öztürk made statements about the new version of HÜRKUŞ-II. Öztürk noted that HÜRKUŞ-II is a lighter and more functional version. He emphasized the aircraft’s high flight performance, highlighting that production is progressing rapidly and that it will soon be seen in the skies.
HÜRKUŞ is designed as a tandem-seat, low-wing, single-engine turboprop trainer aircraft. It is intended to be used at all training stages between basic training and fighter aircraft conversion, and to perform close air support missions in challenging operations.
Compared to its other versions, HÜRKUŞ-A and HÜRKUŞ-B, HÜRKUŞ-II has a relatively lighter structure. With its superior aerodynamic design and advanced avionics, HÜRKUŞ-II stands out and is designed for various missions. These missions include patrol and border security, anti-narcotics operations, close air support, armed reconnaissance, and air interdiction. Features of HÜRKUŞ-II include a 1600 shp PT6A-68T Pratt & Whitney Canada turboprop engine, Martin-Baker MK T16N 0/0 ejection seats, and a 30-second inverted flight capability.
