At the 42nd ICAO Assembly session held at the headquarters of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal, Canada, Azerbaijan achieved a significant success. During the opening day plenary meeting, Azerbaijan was presented with a “High Achievement Certificate” by the ICAO Council President for establishing an effective flight safety oversight system and successfully implementing ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices.
181 Countries and 53 Organisations Participated
The Assembly session brought together 2,639 delegates from 181 countries and 53 international organisations. Azerbaijan was represented by the delegation of the State Civil Aviation Agency.

Future Policies of ICAO on the Agenda
Held every three years, the ICAO Assembly, as one of the organisation’s highest governing bodies, reviews activities, defines policies, and approves the budget. This year’s programme highlighted the following points:
- Review of ICAO’s activity report for the past three years
- ICAO Council elections
- Discussion of reports from civil aviation committees and commissions
- Financial activities and budget planning for the coming years
Azerbaijan to Hold Bilateral Meetings
Within the scope of the event, the Azerbaijani delegation is also expected to hold numerous bilateral meetings.
