Sabiha Gökçen Airport Authority HEAŞ announced information regarding passenger and flight traffic for 2025, along with infrastructure and technology projects carried out at the airport.
According to the data shared, Sabiha Gökçen Airport served a total of 48,414,368 passengers throughout 2025. During the same period, 275,321 flight movements took place at the airport. It was stated that 56 per cent of passenger traffic consisted of international flights, while 44 per cent was domestic.
It was announced that Germany was the most travelled country on international routes, while Ercan Airport in the TRNC was recorded as the most visited destination. On domestic routes, Antalya Airport stood out as the most frequently flown destination.
Updates in Navigation and Safety Systems
HEAŞ’s statement also included information on works related to navigation and airfield systems supporting flight safety. Accordingly, the initial commissioning flight inspections of the ILS systems on runways 24L and 24R were completed, while installation works for the 06L ILS reached a level of 95 per cent.
It was stated that a total of 12 flight inspection activities were carried out during the year, and that detailed monitored systems required by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) were also put into operation.
The statement further noted that, in order to increase existing capacity, Phase 1 of the Terminal 1 Renovation Project, the A-SMGCS expansion, and the EFS/DCL update projects were commissioned. It was also shared that an “acoustic bird deterrent system” was activated on the second runway. Systems within the CNS infrastructure were reported to have been kept operational 24/7 throughout the year.
Airside Operations, Emergency and Health Services
Within the scope of airside operations, it was reported that periodic maintenance activities were carried out on the electrical infrastructure throughout the year, and renovation works were conducted in hangar and facility areas as well as on runways, aprons, and taxiways. The statement also included numerical data regarding towing and follow-me services provided in apron operations.
Within the scope of ARFF and health services, it was recorded that firefighting and emergency response teams carried out preventive services throughout the year, and first aid teams intervened in incidents.
Environment and Zero Waste Initiatives
Within the scope of environmental initiatives, HEAŞ announced that more than 400,000 kilograms of waste were recycled in 2025. It was stated that, through recycling stations established and awareness trainings organised under Zero Waste practices, the aim is to increase waste separation rates across the airport.
