HAVELSAN is establishing a 17,000-square-meter flight simulator production and integration facility in Ankara. With the facility scheduled to enter service in 2027, the company’s annual production capacity will increase to more than 30 simulators.
HAVELSAN Increases Flight Simulator Production Capacity
Turkish defence and aerospace technology company HAVELSAN is launching a new production and integration facility in Ankara to increase its civil and military flight simulator production capacity. The foundation of the 17,000-square-meter Flight Simulator Production and Integration Facility was laid by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at a ceremony attended by industry representatives.
Production of More Than 30 Simulators Annually
Once completed, the facility will significantly increase HAVELSAN’s production capacity, enabling the company to produce more than 30 flight simulators per year. It is planned that 16 simulators will be developed simultaneously at different production and integration stages.
When evaluated together with the existing infrastructure in Ankara, the company aims to reach a total capacity of 40 commercial and military simulators that are simultaneously in development or operational stages.
One of the Largest Simulator Centers in the Region
With the new investment becoming operational, HAVELSAN is expected to become one of the largest full flight simulator production centers in Europe and the Middle East. The investment is also expected to strengthen Türkiye’s position in the global flight simulation and aviation training market.
Next-Generation Simulator Technologies to Be Developed
The new facility will also provide infrastructure for the development of next-generation simulator technologies. In this context, the STARVIEW-B collimated visual system developed by HAVELSAN aims to increase visual realism and procedural accuracy in pilot training.
The system aims to increase technological independence in simulator subsystems while also forming an important part of the company’s strategy to develop globally competitive full flight simulators within the STARLINE FSTD product family.
To Become Operational in 2027
The facility, which is planned to become operational in 2027, is expected to create employment for hundreds of highly qualified engineers and technical personnel in Ankara. The investment is also aimed at making a significant contribution to Türkiye’s aviation and defence technology ecosystem.
Contribution to Civil and Military Projects
HAVELSAN has significantly expanded its simulator production activities in recent years. The company provides simulator solutions for the civil aviation sector to customers such as Turkish Airlines, SunExpress and International Flight Training Center, while also achieving export success.
The company also contributes to national aviation projects such as HÜRJET, HÜRKUŞ, KAAN and T625 GÖKBEY in the field of simulators and training systems.
With more than 40 years of experience, HAVELSAN develops flight simulators for various platforms and, once the current order portfolio is completed, will have delivered more than 400 simulators for over 60 military and civil platforms to national and international users.
