In recent days, two separate drug incidents were recorded on TUI Fly Belgium flights from Montego Bay and Cancún. Brussels Airport customs seized a total of 400 kilograms of cocaine from two flights arriving from the Caribbean to the Belgian capital over the span of a few days.
High-Risk Airport for Drug Trafficking
Zaventem’s Brussels International Airport, the largest airport in Belgium, is considered a high-risk point for drug trafficking. The Belgian Customs stated in a release to Simple Flying:
“Today, customs seized eight suitcases containing cocaine from a flight arriving at Zaventem Airport from Cancún, Mexico. Last Friday, four suitcases filled with cocaine were intercepted on a flight from Montego Bay, Jamaica. In just a few days, a total of 400 kilograms of drugs were confiscated.”
Specifics of the Seizures
TUI Fly Belgium is the sole airline operating between Montego Bay and Brussels, as well as between Cancún and the Belgian capital. The flights from Montego Bay to Brussels are conducted once a week on Thursdays by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Four suitcases filled with cocaine were seized from a flight arriving in Brussels on Friday morning.
