Due to adverse weather conditions affecting Istanbul, flight operations at Sabiha Gökçen Airport will be reduced by 15% on 18 and 19 January 2026. MADKOM has issued a warning to passengers.

In line with the latest assessments by the Turkish State Meteorological Service, adverse weather conditions continuing across Istanbul have caused disruptions to air transportation. According to a statement by the Meteorological Emergency Committee (MADKOM), flight operations at Sabiha Gökçen International Airport will be reduced by 15% throughout the day on Sunday, 18 January 2026, and Monday, 19 January 2026.

Officials stated that the decision was implemented to ensure flight safety, emphasising that it is of great importance for passengers to access the latest information regarding their flights through the official websites, mobile applications and call centres of the relevant airlines.

It was also noted that the capacity reduction decision may be re-evaluated depending on the course of weather conditions. Passengers were urged to check their flight status before travelling to the airport in order to avoid possible inconvenience.
