Turkish Airlines Resumes Flights to Misrata After a Decade

Turkish Airlines (THY) has restarted its flights to Misrata, which were suspended in 2015 due to internal unrest in Libya, after a 10-year hiatus.

The inaugural flight took place on September 2, 2025, operated by a Boeing 737 registered TC-JVA, from Istanbul Airport to Misrata. With this, THY has returned to Libyan skies, expanding its flight network once again.

Three Weekly Flights Scheduled

According to the airline’s schedule, Istanbul – Misrata flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, in both directions.

By adding Misrata to its existing destinations of Tripoli and Benghazi, THY now serves three cities in Libya.

First Flight Message from Bilal Ekşi

Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Ekşi shared the following message on social media:

“We fly to three cities in Libya. With today’s launch of the MISRATA (TK 1145) flight, we have reached a third point alongside Tripoli and Benghazi. Turkey is growing, and THY is flying high.”

With this step, Turkish Airlines aims to strengthen its renewed presence in Libya while contributing to the development of commercial, cultural, and touristic ties between the two countries.
