Evacuation on Taxiway: Spirit Airlines Plane Malfunctions Before Takeoff

Spirit Airlines Flight 445, scheduled to fly from John Glenn Columbus International Airport to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was evacuated on the taxiway Friday morning due to a technical issue. The problem was reported shortly after the aircraft was pushed back from the gate in preparation for takeoff.

As a precaution, passengers were evacuated onto the taxiway using the aircraft’s stairs around 10:00 AM, and they were escorted back to the terminal. Spirit Airlines stated that it was working to arrange alternative travel options for the affected passengers.

Following the incident, the airline announced that the aircraft would undergo a thorough inspection by maintenance crews to identify the cause of the malfunction.
