European Airlines Seek Measures Against Rising Chinese Competition!

Air France-KLM and Lufthansa are urging their governments to take action against the growing presence of Chinese airlines in the European market. Air France-KLM is pushing for a cap on the number of flights allowed from mainland China to Europe, while Lufthansa is encouraging the German government to pursue similar measures.

Reports indicate that Air France-KLM has suggested suspending current air traffic rights, although sources emphasize that these discussions are being conducted in secrecy. Additionally, Lufthansa is reportedly considering halting flights to Beijing due to increased operational costs and the use of older aircraft.

A key factor in this competitive struggle is the advantage Chinese carriers gain from flying through Russian airspace, a route that remains closed to most European airlines. This situation has prompted European carriers to seek intervention from national governments and possibly the European Union to curb the competitive edge Chinese airlines currently hold.

Both Air France-KLM and Lufthansa have declined to comment on the matter.
