An Embraer 145 aircraft ran off the runway during landing at Haiti Les Cayes Antoine-Simon Airport. The five passengers and crew on board were safely evacuated, and technical teams launched an investigation.
Embraer 145 Aircraft Runs Off Runway
The National Office of Civil Aviation (OFNAC) announced that an Embraer 145 aircraft belonging to IBC ran off the runway while landing at Antoine-Simon Airport.
Heavy Rain During Landing
The aircraft, arriving from Miami, attempted to land under heavy rain at 14:36 local time. During the second landing attempt at 14:40, the aircraft veered off the runway, experienced braking issues, and came to a stop on the northeast side.
Passengers and Crew Safe
There were five passengers and crew members on board. No fatalities or serious injuries were reported. The Haitian National Police (PNH) was dispatched to the scene to secure the area.
Technical Investigation Launched
Technical teams from OFNAC and the National Airport Authority (AAN), in coordination with IBC, went to the airport to conduct a technical assessment of the incident.
Airport Operations to Resume
Authorities stated that necessary measures will be implemented to safely and orderly resume airport operations. Following the incident, runway clearance and a review of flight safety procedures are planned.
