El Al Resumes Tel Aviv-Moscow Flights!

Israel’s national airline, El Al, announced that it will resume flights between Tel Aviv and Moscow starting on May 1, 2025. The company stated that this decision was made following a request to ensure the protection of Israel’s airspace.

According to the statement from El Al, a total of seven flights will be operated every day of the week between Tel Aviv and Moscow.

Why Were the Flights Suspended?

Israel had suspended flights to Moscow at the end of 2024 due to security concerns after an Azerbaijani aircraft was shot down by Russian forces.

Meanwhile, European countries had imposed economic sanctions on Russia due to the Ukraine war, resulting in the closure of airspace. Currently, 36 countries are banned from using Russian airspace, but Israel is not on this list.

Connection with Russia Continues

According to a report by Reuters, around 1.3 million people in Israel speak Russian or hold Russian citizenship. This makes the Tel Aviv-Moscow route a significant corridor for Israel.
