EasyJet “new base” at London Southend Airport for flights to Turkey and Tunisia

EasyJet has announced that it will open a new base at London Southend Airport in the UK, creating over 100 new job opportunities.

Six New Flight Routes

This new base in Essex will host six new flight routes, including destinations in Turkey and Tunisia. London Southend is considered an indicator of increasing demand in the East Anglia region.

Expanding Operations

The base, set to open in March 2025, will accommodate three aircraft. This move follows in the footsteps of EasyJet’s base at Birmingham International Airport.

Management Change

This development comes after CEO Johan Lundgren’s decision to step down in 2025. He will be succeeded by Chief Financial Officer Kenton Jarvis.

Statement from Chairman

EasyJet Chairman Sir Stephen Hester expressed sadness at Lundgren’s departure, noting Lundgren’s excellent performance in managing the company successfully during the Covid period.
