According to a statement from the Azerbaijani Presidency, President Ilham Aliyev inspected the “C-27J Spartan” aircraft, produced by Italy’s Leonardo company, at Baku Heydar Aliyev International Airport.
During the inspection, President Aliyev was accompanied by Azerbaijani Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov, Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, Italian Deputy Foreign Minister Edmondo Cirielli, and senior executives from Leonardo. Detailed information on the technical features and operation of the newly acquired aircraft was provided to President Aliyev.

The C-27J Spartan is capable of performing both defense and civil defense missions under challenging geographical and operational conditions. It is noted that the aircraft can be used for military transport, airdropping of paratroopers and cargo, as well as medical missions.
