American Boeing is now rocked by a fake titanium scandal, following the sudden deaths of John Barnett and Joshua Dina, who had highlighted irregularities in passenger aircraft production. It has come to light that Boeing used materials in its aircraft that were not actually titanium, and reports from employees pointing this out were ignored.

Speaking to the US Senate about the plane crashes in Indonesia (2018) and Ethiopia (2019), Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun, addressing questions about quality issues with the 737-MAX aircraft, claimed he had only recently learned about the factory’s use of suspicious parts.
There are numerous whistleblower testimonies before the Senate Subcommittee investigating security lapses in Boeing’s production. The committee found that fake titanium parts were used in some aircraft, and Boeing management overlooked this issue.
The scandal involves not just minor components like bolts and nuts, but also the wings attached to the aircraft’s fuselage. According to the revealed information, Boeing employees reported to management that the titanium metal used in the aircraft might be fake.
A supplier firm’s personnel, noticing small corrosion holes in the material, identified that this metal, presented to Boeing as ‘titanium,’ was actually a fake.
A lesser-known Chinese company produced the so-called titanium, selling it to Boeing’s supplier firm and then to Boeing with fake documents.
$33 Million CEO Ignored the Issue
Both companies’ managements claimed that this did not pose a problem, burying the reports from employees. Among those who ignored the situation was Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun, who earns an annual salary of $33 million.
American CNN reported that Calhoun’s salary for 2023 was $33 million, noting that he would receive $45 million in severance pay if he were fired.
Sudden Deaths of John Barnett and Joshua Dina
Former Boeing employee John Barnett was found dead in his car in a parking lot. Barnett had testified about irregularities in passenger aircraft production and was set to attend a critical hearing. His family believes Barnett was murdered, made to look like a suicide.
Following Barnett’s death, Joshua Dina also died. Joshua Dina, a quality inspector at Boeing’s supplier company Spirit AeroSystems, had stated that Boeing management ignored production defects. Despite having no health issues, 45-year-old Dina suddenly died from a bacterial infection.
Passengers Stuck to the Ceiling, Then the Door Broke Off
Meanwhile, strange incidents continued to occur on Boeing planes. On March 11, 2024, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner flying from Sydney to Auckland suddenly lost altitude. The pilot, stating that all sensors went off suddenly, said, “After passing out, I woke up. I saw people on the ceiling. They were stuck to the ceiling, then fell to the ground.”
This was just one of five bizarre incidents that occurred within a few months. On March 7, the landing gear of a Boeing 777 that took off from San Francisco broke off. In January, the door of an Alaska Airlines 737 MAX-9 fell off. The plane had just taken off, preventing a tragedy.
346 People Dead, $24.8 Billion Compensation Demand
A total of 346 people died in crashes in 2018 and 2019 due to software that forced the plane’s nose down. Boeing, which paid compensation to the families of those who lost their lives, is also facing a criminal lawsuit regarding the irregularities. The latest lawsuits filed by the families reportedly demand a total of $24.8 billion in compensation.
