Danger in the Air in Russia! Polar Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing

The Bombardier aircraft operated by Polar Airlines, flying the Yakutsk-Tiksi route, was forced to return to Yakutsk Airport shortly after takeoff due to a technical malfunction. The plane landed safely, and the Yakutsk Transport Prosecutor’s Office initiated an inspection for compliance with flight safety regulations.

Details of the Malfunction

According to the Eastern Interregional Transport Investigation Directorate of the Russian Federation Investigative Committee, there were 27 passengers and 4 crew members on board. It was discovered that the landing gear had not retracted after takeoff, prompting the crew to end the flight that began at 11:29 a.m. (Moscow time 05:29) with a safe landing at 11:50 a.m. (Moscow time 05:50). The airline confirmed the malfunction, stating that the aircraft sustained no damage and no passengers required medical assistance.

Legal Process Initiated

Following the incident, an investigation was launched under Article 263 of the Russian Federation Penal Code, citing violations of air transport safety rules. The Yakutsk Transport Prosecutor’s Office began verifying compliance with passenger rights and flight safety regulations.

Replacement Aircraft Dispatched

In a statement, the airline announced that a replacement aircraft departed at 5:30 p.m. (Moscow time 11:30) to complete the journey. Measures were taken to ensure the safe arrival of passengers at their destination.

Priority on Safety and Passenger Rights

The Yakutsk Transport Prosecutor’s Office is investigating both the technical aspects of the incident and whether passenger rights were violated. The inquiry will also examine if any aviation safety standards were neglected during the process.
