Cruise News: New 2028 Sailings Across Alaska, Europe & Beyond

Cruise lines are already looking ahead to 2028, unveiling new deployments and expanded itineraries designed to give travelers more ways to explore the world.

National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions

National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions has unveiled its 2028-29 deployment, adding new and expanded itineraries across Antarctica, the Arctic, Alaska, Europe and the South Pacific.

Among the highlights is the cruise line’s return to French Polynesia, with 7- and 14-day itineraries offering access to remote destinations including Makatea, the only uplifted coral atoll in French Polynesia. Select voyages will also visit Pitcairn Island. 

In Southeast Alaska, the line is adding longer itineraries, including a new round-trip voyage from Vancouver aboard Greg Mortimer. The voyages are designed to provide more time for wildlife viewing and exploration, with opportunities to explore Tongass National Forest. 

European river voyages will combine cultural immersion with exclusive experiences, including after-hours visits to Melk Abbey and Clam Castle, encounters with Holocaust survivors in Amsterdam and holiday sailings featuring Danube Christmas markets.

Across the deployment, National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions will continue to emphasize expedition-style exploration led by naturalists, photographers, scientists and National Geographic Expedition Experts.

Norwegian Cruise Line has opened bookings for its summer 2028 season, with more than 450 voyages across 20 ships and 175 overnight stays and late departures in 53 destinations.

In the Bahamas, Norwegian Aqua will spend its first full summer season offering 3- and 4-night roundtrip cruises from Miami, giving travelers access to Great Stirrup Cay and its new Great Tides Waterpark. 

Across the Caribbean, Norwegian Aura will sail 7-day Eastern Caribbean itineraries from Miami, while Norwegian Prima returns to Galveston for 7-day Western Caribbean cruises. Norwegian Luna will offer a 10-day repositioning voyage from Miami to New York in May 2028, with inaugural calls in Aruba, Curacao and San Juan.

In Europe, Norwegian Jewel will debut in Morocco with calls at Casablanca and Agadir on a 12-day Canary Islands itinerary from Barcelona. Norwegian Getaway will offer 10- and 11-day Northern Europe sailings between London and Reykjavik during the midnight sun season, while Norwegian Dawn will make its first calls at Zadar, Croatia, and Cagliari, Sardinia.

NCL will also expand its Alaska offerings, with four ships sailing the region from April through October, and continue South Pacific itineraries aboard Norwegian Spirit, connecting destinations including Fiji, French Polynesia, Hawaii and Australia.

Princess Cruises has opened sales for its 2028 Alaska season, featuring 185 departures across 14 itineraries aboard eight ships, including Star Princess.

The season will offer 4- to 16-day sailings from Seattle, Vancouver, Anchorage, San Francisco and Los Angeles, with visits to 16 Alaska destinations including Juneau, Ketchikan and Skagway. Guests can also experience scenic cruising through four glacier regions: Glacier Bay National Park, Hubbard Glacier, College Fjord and Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier.

Princess will offer 86 visits to Glacier Bay National Park, along with select late-evening port calls that give travelers more time to explore ashore.

The line’s signature Voyage of the Glaciers itineraries will continue sailing between Anchorage and Vancouver, combining Alaska’s major ports with glacier-viewing opportunities. Roundtrip Inside Passage cruises from West Coast homeports will provide another option for travelers looking for shorter or more convenient Alaska vacations.

For travelers looking to explore beyond the coastline, Princess’ cruisetours combine an Alaska cruise with stays at Princess Wilderness Lodges and visits to destinations including Denali National Park. Select itineraries offer access to the line’s Direct-to-the-Wilderness rail service between Whittier and the Denali area, with custom glass-domed railcars designed for sightseeing.

The 2028 season also continues Princess’ North to Alaska programming, featuring Alaska-inspired cuisine, cultural presentations, entertainment and destination-focused shore excursions.
