As part of his contacts in Türkiye, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte visited ASELSAN facilities and reviewed the production and technological infrastructure of the defence industry on site. Rutte’s previous engagements at Turkish Aerospace Industries facilities indicate that the visits included a comprehensive assessment of Türkiye’s defence ecosystem.
Advanced technology systems were presented
During the visit, Rutte was accompanied by Haluk Görgün and Ahmet Akyol. The delegation was given a detailed presentation on ASELSAN’s high-technology systems, ongoing investments, and production capabilities.
Within the scope of the presentation, solutions developed in critical areas such as electronic warfare, radar, and communication systems, as well as the company’s innovation-focused growth approach, were highlighted.

In his evaluation of the visit, ASELSAN CEO Ahmet Akyol stated that they were pleased to host NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
Akyol noted that the company’s high-technology products were introduced during the meeting and that comprehensive information was shared regarding new investments and production capacity. He stated that ASELSAN will continue to develop solutions that contribute to NATO’s collective defence capability and to take an active role in the international security architecture.
Türkiye’s growing role in the defence industry
Rutte’s visits to ASELSAN and TUSAŞ indicate that Türkiye’s role in the defence industry within NATO is steadily expanding. Domestic production capacity, export potential, and technological capabilities are making Türkiye one of the key suppliers within the alliance.
