TUSAŞ Engine Industries (TEI), after the production of Turkey’s first indigenous turbofan engine TF-6000, has accelerated preparations for the production of TF-10000. The TF-10000, a critical step for the Turkish Fighter Aircraft KAAN to fly with an indigenous engine, is also noteworthy for its technical specifications.

Turkey’s Strong Step in Defense

The TF-10000 Turbofan Engine developed by TEI offers a powerful solution for fighter jets and unmanned aerial vehicles with a thrust power of 10,000 lbf. Thanks to its afterburner feature, it enhances the performance of air platforms, solidifying Turkey’s independence in engine technologies.

According to a statement from TEI, the engine’s accessories and subsystems will be produced entirely by local companies. This step aims to reduce Turkey’s dependence on foreign sources in the aviation industry.

Record Export Target in the Defense Industry

In 2023, TEI achieved exports worth 400 million dollars, and in 2024, it aims to increase this figure to 450 million dollars.

TEI General Manager Prof. Dr. Mahmut Faruk Akşit stated that the company makes significant contributions not only to Turkey but also to the global aviation industry. TEI collaborates with countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Japan and is involved in over 40,000 aircraft worldwide with the engine parts it produces.

TEI’s Signature on the U.S. Navy

In addition to aircraft engines, TEI also continues to make its mark in the international market with ship engine maintenance services. Last year, the company won the contract for maintenance of the U.S. Navy’s LM2500 engines, further proving its success in the defense industry.

A Strong Player in Global Aviation

Emphasizing that TEI has undergone a significant transformation in its growth process, Akşit stated, “As a company, we have become a structure that competes globally by focusing on engineering and R&D activities.”

With local aircraft engine projects and investments in the global market, TEI is elevating Turkey to the top ranks in the defense industry and continues its efforts for KAAN to fly with an indigenous engine.
