The civil aviation authorities of Uzbekistan and Indonesia have signed a new agreement to expand cooperation in civil aviation and Hajj tourism. The agreement was adopted under Article 53 of Uzbekistan’s 2030 Strategy, which aims to quadruple air transport capacity.
During a meeting held in Jakarta, the delegation from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport presented its partners with information on civil aviation projects, Hajj tourism, and the “Umrah Plus” programme. As a result of the discussions, restrictions on the number of airlines and destinations in the existing bilateral air services agreement were lifted.
Under the new agreement, Uzbek carriers will be able to operate flights to new destinations such as Denpasar, Surabaya, Medan, Yogyakarta, Majalengka, Banda Aceh, Tanjung Pandan, and Lombok. Flight frequencies have been increased to 28 per week for each country, while Indonesian airlines have been granted the right to use all international airports in Uzbekistan.
This strategic cooperation is expected to significantly boost tourism, trade, and cultural exchange between the two nations.
