A defence industry agreement covering the production and maintenance of the ANKA UAV was signed between Türkiye and Kazakhstan. The cooperation introduces a new joint production model.
As part of 13 agreements signed between Türkiye and Kazakhstan, a remarkable step was taken in the field of defence industry. Ankara and Astana reached an understanding on establishing a joint venture covering the production and maintenance of the Turkish-made ANKA unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The agreement aims to elevate defence industry cooperation between the two countries to a new level.
13 Agreements Signed During Erdoğan and Tokayev Meeting
As part of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s official visit to Kazakhstan, a total of 13 agreements covering various sectors such as trade, energy, education, transportation and defence were signed during meetings with Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
One of the most notable agreements signed was the cooperation in the field of defence industry.
Joint Production and Maintenance Initiative for the ANKA UAV
Within the scope of the defence industry agreement, signatures were exchanged between Defence Industry Agency President Haluk Görgün and Nurlan Kuzhayev, Chairman of JSC Aircraft Repair Plant No. 406 representing the Kazakh side.
The agreement envisages the establishment of a joint venture covering the production and maintenance of the ANKA unmanned aerial vehicle, one of the key platforms of the Turkish defence industry, in Kazakhstan.
Development of Production and Technical Capacity Targeted
With the signed memorandum, it is aimed to increase Kazakhstan’s production, maintenance and technical infrastructure capacity for the ANKA platform. In this context, technology transfer and the development of joint production capabilities between the two countries are planned.
New Contribution to Turkish Defence Industry Export Strategy
Türkiye, which has attracted global attention in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles in recent years, is expected to further strengthen defence industry integration with Turkic States through this agreement.
The joint production and maintenance agreement for the ANKA platform is expected to provide strategic contributions both to Türkiye’s export capacity and to regional defence cooperation.
