Allegiant Air Cuts 24 California Routes: See All Flight Changes Now [List & Map]

California is not a large part of Allegiant Air’s network. In the 12 months to March 2026, the US Department of Transportation (DOT) shows that only 943,000 of its passengers — just 5% of the total — flew to or from The Golden State. Given its already-small Californian network, along with thin routes and low frequencies, it was only the state’s tenth-largest domestic carrier.

California’s share of Allegiant’s traffic will be a lot less now. The ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC) ceased flying to San Diego International Airport (SAN) in September 2025, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in January 2026, and Oakland International Airport (OAK) in May 2026. However, Burbank joined its map in February 2026.

Allegiant has removed 24 California routes. This finding is based on using OAG data to examine the carrier’s network in July 2025 and comparing its offering with what is available in July 2026. The cuts involve five airports in California, although obviously mainly LAX, OAK, and SAN (22 routes). Comparing two periods is an intriguing way to see how an airline’s network has evolved.

While 24 routes have been removed, nine have been introduced. They are all from Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) and John Wayne Airport-Orange County Airport (SNA), which Allegiant is using as lower-cost and less congested alternatives to LAX. Recall that BUR was Avelo Airlines’ first base, although it has since closed. It was also used as the Greater LA airport for the short-lived SkyBus, which modeled itself on Ryanair.

In July 2026, Allegiant will fly to 42 states. California will have 327 departures (double for both ways), down by 31% year-over-year. It’ll rank 13th, down from eighth place. Daily services will vary massively, from just one departure (!) on Tuesdays (it is always Allegiant’s least-served day) to as many as 17 outbound flights on Sundays. 23 routes will be available, reduced from 38 last July.

They involve nine Florida airports. Find out more here!

They’re summarized below and shown on the following interactive map. You may zoom in and out and select the month when each route ended. Schedule analysis at the airport level shows that several of the markets will be served by at least one other carrier in July 2026. It could be different in other months. It will, of course, be very different at the city level.

Fresno Yosemite International Airport (FAT) to Portland and SAN to Medford are in the exclusive hands of Alaska Airlines. Horizon Air’s Embraer E175s began flying from SAN to Medford in May last year, three months before Allegiant pulled out.

Then there’s LAX. Alaska serves Spokane, Delta Air Lines flies to Cincinnati, Indianapolis, and Spokane, and American Airlines operates to Indianapolis, Northwest Arkansas, Omaha, and Tulsa. In many cases, regional units are deployed. In 2025, the now-defunct Spirit also flew between LAX and Indy.

Routes That Allegiant Has Ended: July 2025 Vs. What’s Available In July 2026

Allegiant began flying from Stockton to Denver on May 22, 2025. The route, which deployed the 156-seat Airbus A319, only operated twice-weekly until August 31, 2025. Until then, that market had not been served by any airline, although that is unsurprising.

The DOT shows that Allegiant carried 4,883 round-trip passengers and filled just 59.9% of the available seats. That is despite the same source indicating that its average fare (excluding all the add-ons and taxes) was just $20 (!).

In the same four-month period, the ULCC’s average load on all its Stockton routes was 73.6%. While much better than the Denver link, even that was much lower than the 84.9% achieved by Allegiant’s for its overall Californian operations. It was marginally higher than for its overall US-wide routes (84.4%). As always, load factor is just one performance measure, and should not be considered in isolation.
