Flight IU-2180 of Super Air Jet skidded off the runway during landing at Weda Bay Airport, located in Central Halmahera Regency, North Maluku.
Super Air Jet President Ari Azhari made an official statement. In a written statement, Ari confirmed that the Airbus 320-200 aircraft, registered as PK-STD, operated in accordance with standard operating procedures.
The aircraft, carrying 172 passengers, landed at Weda Bay Airport in rainy weather. After completing the landing phase, the plane exceeded the runway boundary. Videos recorded by local residents show the aircraft skidding off the runway.
Ari confirmed that all passengers and crew were safe and that no one was injured. Following the incident, all passengers were evacuated and taken to the waiting lounge in the terminal building.
Super Air Jet management announced that they would fully cooperate with the NTSC in the investigation to ensure that a similar incident does not occur in the future.
