Air India Express Flight Cancelled Due to Bird Strike

Airline officials confirmed that the Air India Express aircraft scheduled for the Vijayawada-Bengaluru route was cancelled after an eagle struck the plane’s nose while taxiing.

Following the incident during pre-takeoff preparations, the airline arranged alternative travel for affected passengers. An airline official told PTI, “The bird strike occurred before takeoff while the aircraft was taxiing on the runway.”

Consecutive Incidents on Air India Flights

This incident comes shortly after another flight disruption earlier this week, when Air India flight AI2913 from Delhi to Indore had to make an emergency landing due to a motor alarm.

The AI2913 A320 Neo aircraft returned safely to Delhi on 31 August shortly after takeoff, after receiving a fire signal from the right engine. More than 90 passengers were on board at the time. Following standard protocol, pilots shut down the engine, and passengers were safely transferred to another flight.

Directorate General of Civil Aviation Notified

Both incidents highlight the recent technical and operational challenges faced by Air India and Air India Express flights. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has been informed and initiated an investigation.

Airline officials emphasised that passenger safety and continuity of flight operations remain their top priorities.
