AerCap has signed a historic order agreement with Airbus for 100 A320neo and A321neo aircraft. The new aircraft will offer efficiency and low-emission advantages to airline customers.
AerCap Holdings NV, one of the world’s leading aircraft leasing companies, has signed a firm order agreement with Airbus for 23 A320neo and 77 A321neo aircraft. With this step, the company aims to meet the long-term fleet needs of its global airline customers.
AerCap CEO Aengus Kelly said, “The order for 100 A320neo Family aircraft demonstrates our strong confidence in the long-term demand for these highly efficient aircraft. It will help meet the growth and replacement needs of our customers.” Kelly also summarized AerCap’s strategy as “investing in assets that provide the best economic returns and the lowest emissions for our airline customers.”
Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President Sales of Airbus Commercial Aircraft, described the order as “the largest single direct order AerCap has ever placed with Airbus” and emphasized the value and performance of the A320neo Family.
The A320 family stands out as the most popular single-aisle aircraft worldwide, with more than 19,000 orders. The largest member of the family, the A321neo, provides superior range and performance, while offering at least 20% fuel savings and CO₂ reduction compared to previous-generation aircraft. Like all Airbus aircraft, the A320 family can operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Airbus aims for its aircraft to reach 100% SAF capability by 2030.
This massive order by AerCap will enable the company to maintain its leading position in fleet modernisation over the next decade.
