Aegean Airlines, Greece’s leading airline, has taken a new step to strengthen air connectivity between Türkiye and Greece. The company officially launched its direct flights between Istanbul Airport (IST) and Thessaloniki Airport (SKG) as of 24 November 2025.
Operated three times a week with Airbus A320 aircraft, the new route aims to make a significant contribution to tourism, trade and cultural interaction between the two countries.
Aegean Airlines Expands Its Türkiye Flight Network
Aegean Airlines was already operating 4 daily flights on the Istanbul–Athens route and 5 weekly flights between Athens and Izmir. With the launch of the Istanbul–Thessaloniki service, the airline’s network of flights to Türkiye has further expanded.
This step is considered another strategic move that strengthens the Türkiye–Greece air corridor following the additional services launched from Santorini, Mykonos, Crete and Izmir to Thessaloniki.
A New Travel Corridor Between Two Cultural Cities
The new direct service offers a fast and comfortable travel alternative for both business travellers and tourists wishing to explore the historical, gastronomic and cultural richness of Thessaloniki and Istanbul. The route is expected to meet rising demand, particularly during the winter and spring seasons, and provide fresh momentum to regional tourism.
