Turkey’s national flag carrier, Turkish Airlines, and its youngest airline, AJet, have signed a cooperation agreement within the scope of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’ “Ada Kıbrıs” project. The agreement includes diversifying accessible transportation alternatives, supporting regional employment, and promoting the island. Signed by TRNC President Ersin Tatar, TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, and Turkish Airlines and AJet Chairman of the Board Ahmet Bolat, the agreement will significantly contribute to helping the TRNC reach its rightful place in the international tourism arena.
First Flight to TRNC with an Aircraft Bearing the “Ada Kıbrıs” Logo
On 7 July 2025, a large delegation, including Turkish Airlines and AJet Chairman Ahmet Bolat, Turkish Airlines Vice Chairman of the Board Şekip Avdagiç, AJet General Manager Kerem Sarp, businesspeople from the Service Exporters’ Association, influencers, and senior executives from Turkish Airlines and AJet, flew from Istanbul to the TRNC on an aircraft featuring the “Ada Kıbrıs” logo to mark the signing of the cooperation agreement supporting the “Ada Kıbrıs” project.
A ceremony was held at the Parliament Building for the agreement, which will greatly contribute to the promotion of the TRNC with the support of Turkish Airlines and AJet. The cooperation agreement under the “Ada Kıbrıs” project was signed by TRNC President Ersin Tatar, TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, and Ahmet Bolat.
Ahmet Bolat: “We Have Come Together to Become the Main Player of ‘Ada Kıbrıs’”
Speaking at the ceremony, Turkish Airlines and AJet Chairman of the Board Ahmet Bolat highlighted the importance of the cooperation agreement. He said:
“We have come together to formalise our support for the highly valuable ‘Ada Kıbrıs’ project, which will shape the future of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and to become the main player of the ‘Ada Kıbrıs’ brand as Turkey’s national flag carrier. We do not see this agreement merely as a promotional initiative, but as a concrete reflection of the deep-rooted ties, friendship, and shared faith in a common future between two brotherly countries.”
AJet to Offer Two Daily Flights to TRNC with a Maximum Fare of 6,000 TL
Expressing pride in their support for the project as Turkish Airlines and AJet, Ahmet Bolat said:
“Our aim is to showcase Northern Cyprus’s unique island culture, natural beauty, historical heritage, and culinary richness on a global scale and to elevate the island to its deserved position in tourism. Within the framework of the ‘Ada Kıbrıs’ project, we will operate two daily flights between Istanbul and the TRNC under our AJet brand with an accessible pricing policy. With a maximum one-way fare capped at 6,000 TL on these flights, we will not only make transportation easier but also turn the TRNC into an attractive destination for both domestic and international tourists.”
“Ada Kıbrıs” to be Promoted in London
Ahmet Bolat announced that as part of the project, they will hold the launch event for the “Ada Kıbrıs” project in London on 26 July 2025, aiming to attract tourists from the UK to the TRNC. He stated that they are planning a special fare between London Stansted Airport and the island via Sabiha Gökçen Airport.
Support for “Ada Kıbrıs” from Media, Business, and Arts Communities
Bolat added that they have also integrated representatives from the media, business, and arts communities into the project to support its promotion. Through their visits to the TRNC, they will help highlight the island’s values both through content creation and by showcasing its investment potential.
60 Young TRNC Citizens to be Employed by AJet
The project, which will both support the regional economy and provide young people with career opportunities in international aviation, will see 60 young TRNC citizens join AJet as cabin crew members. These young people will become the face and voice of the island in the skies. Two aircraft in the AJet fleet will be painted with the “Ada Kıbrıs” logo, turning them into flying platforms to promote the island’s tourism brand.
