The Hong Kong Air Accident Investigation Authority (AAIA) has released its preliminary report on the ACT Cargo accident that occurred at Hong Kong International Airport on October 20, 2025, resulting in the deaths of two airport workers. The report indicates that the accident occurred due to a loss of control after landing, leading the aircraft to veer off the runway.
According to the preliminary report, initial analyses from the flight data recorder revealed that immediately after the aircraft touched down, maximum reverse thrust commands were applied to engines 1, 2, and 3, but engine 4 did not enter reverse thrust mode. Additionally, it was noted that engine 1’s thrust increase occurred with a delay. AAIA assessed that the asymmetry in engine responses may have contributed to the loss of control, causing the aircraft to veer left and leave the runway.
The investigation authority stated that, until the final report is published, technical analyses, engine performance records, and operational data related to the landing will continue to be examined in detail.
