Spanish carrier Air Europa has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus for up to 40 A350-900 aircraft to modernise its long-haul operations and accelerate its fleet transformation. Announced at the Dubai Airshow, the agreement marks one of the most significant steps in the airline’s fleet renewal strategy.
The addition of the A350-900 will enable Air Europa to rapidly replace its existing long-haul aircraft. With the aircraft’s superior fuel efficiency, long range and lower operating costs, the airline will be better positioned to support its profitable growth targets, particularly in strategic markets across Latin America. At the same time, passengers will enjoy a higher-level travel experience thanks to the A350’s best-in-class cabin comfort.
Air Europa Chairman Juan Jose Hidalgo said in a statement:
“This order is a strategic milestone in Air Europa’s fleet development. The A350-900 is a game-changing aircraft for our key destinations in Latin America. In addition to offering a premium cabin experience, it will accelerate the airline’s sustainable growth by delivering operational efficiency.”
Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus Executive Vice President of Sales for the Commercial Aircraft division, expressed his satisfaction with Air Europa joining the A350 family:
“This order strongly reaffirms the A350 as the benchmark for efficiency and passenger comfort on long-haul flights. We fully support Air Europa as it continues its growth strategy by leveraging the A350’s capabilities.”
A350: Next-Generation Performance and Comfort
The Airbus A350 is described as one of the most modern widebody aircraft, setting new standards for intercontinental flights and offering nonstop range of up to 9,700 nautical miles / 18,000 kilometres.
Powered by the latest generation Rolls-Royce engines, combined with advanced aerodynamics and lightweight composite materials, the A350 delivers 25% lower fuel burn, operating costs and CO₂ emissions compared with previous-generation competitor aircraft.
The aircraft’s award-winning Airspace cabin concept provides passengers and crew with a more spacious, quieter and more comfortable flight environment.
Like all Airbus aircraft, the A350 is already capable of operating with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Airbus aims to achieve 100% SAF capability across all its aircraft by 2030.
As of October 2025, the A350 family has received more than 1,400 orders from 64 customers worldwide.
