A New Era in Turkish Aviation: Missile Engines to Be Used in UAVs

Turkish aviation is entering a new era with the integration of missile engines into unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The defense and aerospace sector is continuously developing new projects, and the latest addition marks a significant advancement. Osman Akyay, Vice Chairman of the Board of Kale Group, provided detailed insights into the project they aim to develop in this area.

Turkey Among Leading Countries in Defense Industry

Turkey is among the leading countries in the defense industry. The progress made by Turkey in this field is evident at international defense and aerospace fairs. With ongoing projects, Turkey continues to strengthen its success in the defense industry.

Key Statements from Osman Akyay

Osman Akyay, Vice Chairman of the Board of Kale Group, stated, “The engines we currently have are short-life missile engines. When we were producing these engines, we thought that we should be able to develop and use them in other fields once their lifespan ends. Because we produced these engines with this vision, their infrastructure was designed to allow for reuse. All the materials were chosen accordingly.

The engines we have are ready for multiple uses and long-term operations. By making some minor modifications, we are adapting our missile engines for use in unmanned aerial vehicles. Work on this is currently ongoing, and we aim to complete it as quickly as possible,” he said.

Strong Steps Towards the Future with Developed Projects

Turkey’s new step in the defense industry aims to build a stronger and more independent defense infrastructure in the future. Using missile engines in UAVs will not only reduce costs but also ensure efficient use of existing resources. These projects will further strengthen Turkey’s position on the international stage.
