Special Video from TUSAS for the 39th Anniversary of SSB: Showcasing Turkey’s Defense Industry Successes
Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TUSAŞ) celebrated the 39th anniversary of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) with a special video highlighting Turkey’s major achievements in the defense industry. The video, shared on TUSAŞ’s social media accounts, featured images of air vehicles that are symbols of Turkey’s national defense projects, including HÜRJET, HÜRKUŞ, GÖKBEY, and the national combat aircraft KAAN.
The video showcased visuals of TUSAŞ-developed aircraft that enhance Turkey’s defense capabilities, including the national jet training aircraft HÜRJET, the basic training and light attack aircraft HÜRKUŞ, the general-purpose helicopter GÖKBEY, and the advanced fighter jet KAAN. In its statement celebrating the 39th anniversary of SSB, TUSAŞ included the following message:

What is the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB)? Its Duties and History
The Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) was established in 1985 to enhance Turkey’s independence in the defense sector and develop military systems and technologies. Initially founded within the Ministry of National Defense as the “Defense Industry Development and Support Administration” under Law No. 3238 in 1985, the institution was restructured in 1989 as the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries.
In 2018, through new legal regulations, the institution was renamed the Presidency of Defense Industries under the Turkish Presidency. SSB plays a strategic role in defining and executing Turkey’s defense industry policies and in developing new technologies. Through national defense projects, SSB aims to eliminate dependency on foreign sources and to strengthen Turkey’s defense capabilities with domestic and national resources.
