A Norwegian man managed to bypass security measures and board two separate flights without a ticket at Munich International Airport in Germany. According to local reports, during his second attempt, the man was found carrying a knife.
First Attempt Failed
The strange incidents began on August 4th when the man snuck onto a plane at Munich Airport’s Terminal 2 without a ticket. However, the cabin crew discovered the situation when they realized the flight was fully booked. German Federal Police were called, and the man was removed from the plane and taken into custody. He was released shortly afterward.
Second Attempt: Flew to Stockholm
The next day, the same man returned to Munich Airport and used a similar method to bypass security and board a Lufthansa flight to Stockholm. After the plane departed from Munich, the cabin crew became suspicious when the Norwegian passenger expressed his desire to return directly to Munich.
Arrested in Stockholm
Upon the plane’s arrival in Stockholm, the cabin crew noticed the stowaway, and Swedish police were called to the aircraft. When the Norwegian man was arrested, a 10 cm knife was found in his possession. Following the incident, both Munich Airport and German Federal Police stated that they are investigating how the man managed to evade security checks.
Other Stowaway Incidents
Stowaway cases like this continue to raise concerns worldwide. In March, a 26-year-old man named Wicliff Yves Fleurizard secretly boarded a Delta Air Lines plane in Salt Lake City. He reportedly bypassed gate agents by photographing a young girl’s mobile boarding pass. Fleurizard was caught before takeoff when it was discovered that the flight was fully booked.
A similar incident occurred at London Heathrow, where a man boarded a British Airways flight unnoticed and was only discovered upon arrival at New York JFK. The suspect was sent back to London to face charges of unauthorized boarding and illegal presence in the airspace.
